Awww come on, that's not Scott's fault. Well, at least not the second time. Just Claremont and Byrne being clever in their mini-homage, at Scott's expense.

OK, sometimes he is a tool, though.

See, you know that, and I know that. But the fact remains that these are things that Cyclops has actually done, regardless of the reasons outside the story. Thus, Cyclops keeps forgetting where the Danger Room is, and is therefore a tool.

I used to like Cyclops, despite the fact that he couldn't find his way around his own house. For my money, his complete toolishness started when he started (mentally) cheating on his super-hottie wife with Emma "the skank" Frost.

Nah, Cyclops became a tool around the time he left his wife and child when Jean came back from the dead the first time.

As for how he landed Jean? Rock-hard abs, probably.
