RIDDLE ME THIS!

February 23rd 2007 01:18

I'm going to be away for the next few days, leaving a big Comic Nerd-shaped hole in your lives. But duty calls, and my services are required elsewhere. Nevertheless, you can still get your fill of the goodness - by asking questions! If you've got any questions about comics, anything at all, ask away, and I will be back on Sunday evening (or possibly Monday) to provide the answers. Come on, don't be shy - I know everything!

Hi Comic nerd,

we haent chatted comics yet. Im a bit of a reader myself.

My favourite comic of all time is The Preacher series...

100 Bullets also rocks along.

From the old school The Phantom is an obsession. Ghost who walks, man who cannot die.

The Shadow intrigues me as well....as you can see I like superheroes who only have learnt powers rather than fantastical ones.

Not that I don't dig Superman, X Men and Spidey etc as well..

Anyway enough babbling for now....my questions is what comic book made you a life long fan?

Ah, if you had been reading previously you would probably know the answer. The first comics I collected were Transformers and G.I. Joe, but the one that made me a life-long fan was undoubtedly The Uncanny X-Men. Chris Claremont is probably the most influential a writer has been on me, and to this day his X-Men run is my favourite extended run on a comic ever - I love the whole thing.

I loved Preacher - I sat up one night and ended up reading the whole lot in one sitting because I just couldn't bear to stop.

100 Bullets is a book I tried to get into a couple of months ago. It didn't grab me - I felt like I was trying to get into it too late. This is something I'm happy to do with superheroes because it's one of my favourite genres, but I have to work harder to enjoy crime fiction.

Haven't read much of the Phantom or the Shadow.

Anyway, thanks for making my weekend experiment a non-failure. I got one question!

I quite like 100 Bullets... recently I read Maus and it blew me away...

I wanted to pick up that new Marvel Zombies series... looks interesting...
