Reports of my Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated
November 2nd 2006 11:16
Much like the agony that Wolverine is experiencing on the awesome Adam Kubert cover above, I have recently experienced the agony of No Internet. I'm pretty sure there's a Chinese Hell of No Internet, right next to the Hell of a Thousand Papercuts and the Hell of Rob Liefeld's Captain America. Thus, the much-hyped and promised review of Fantastic Four #5 did not wing its way to your eager screens on the appointed date. For this you have my apologies. No excuse should suffice. In lieu of the internet, what I ought to have done was write the thing by hand and personally deliver it to your doorsteps. But I suck, so instead I'm going to post the damn thing tomorrow.
Probably.

I've been playing the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance PS2 game. Pretty good. I am not sure how far it strays from cannon (probably quite alot) but the dialogue alot of the characters have is brilliant. my team at the moment is Deadpool, Wolverine, Blade and Thor.

REally well done.
BTW, who happens to be your favourite comic character? Or at least, who would make your top ten?

Snake-Eyes from G.I. Joe.
Grimlock from Transformers
Beast
Spider-Man (when well-written, which is not now)
Conan
Lots of X-Men, but particularly the All-New All-Different crew and the original team.
The Thing
Megatron from Transformers
Tons of others. There are very few of the major Marvel or DC characters that I dislike. All of them have had a lot of varied writers and portrayals, and all of them have at least one that I really like. Take Superman. I never enjoyed the character much, but that's because I'd only read the lacklustre early-to-mid 90s material. Now I'm really digging All-Star Superman and Busiek's current run as well. Cyclops is the same. I hate the guy most of the time, but love him in Morrison's run and the early Claremont stuff.

My own list of faves is an eclectic bunch....
Wolverine, short, angry, great hair.
Deadpool, great dialogue, I am wanting to get more into the series that features the "merc with the mouth"
Beast was cool, a great fusion of brain and brawn.
Gambit is bloody hilarious and very suave.
I read a comic series that had a guy in it named TAO, who could talk people into killing themselves. I think it was called Sleeper or something. Very interesting concept. He'd be my favourite villain.
My main faves though series wise are the Universe X stuff. They all use each other's first names, which gives it a really interesing feel to the story.
